History

ONE OF OUR AIRCRAFT WAS MISSING

Both of Eagle’s 707-138s, ex Qantas airlines aircraft, have had chequered histories. G-AVZZ was eventually cut up in Le Bourget in 1983. G-AWDG was to go on for a very long time. Each aircraft served Laker Airways. After many years of research and following up rumours that G-AWDG was still flying in Africa somewhere, it has finally surfaced. It flew into Lanseria South Africa for an interior refurbishment on August 20th 2007 as 9Q-CLK flying for the goverment of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

The company FAAircraft Interiors and Exteriors (Pty) Ltd at Lanseria South Africa managed the refurbishment. The owner had requested that the aircraft be given a distinctive African theme. The following pictures are by kind permission of both FAAircraft Interiors and Robbin Boyes.

It appears that the aircraft departed from Lanseria under rather strange circumstances,
no ATC clearance etc!!!!
